Mexiability was born from a mother’s desire to create an opportunity for her son.

Mexiability: Created with Purpose

Mexiability was created from a personal need to find meaningful employment for my son, Joshua, who is autistic. I’ve always believed that people with disabilities have abilities, talents, and so much to contribute, yet they can face fewer opportunities when it comes to finding employment.

That’s where the idea for Mexiability began.

The name Mexiability combines “Mexi,” representing Mexico and the Mexican products we proudly pack, with “ability,” because I believe in their ability to work, contribute, learn new skills, and be successful.

During the summer, we welcomed two adults from Variety Village as volunteers who wanted to gain work experience and build their resumes. What started as an opportunity to gain experience turned into something even more meaningful when we hired Cathie, followed by Marco.

Today, Joshua, Cathie, and Marco work together to pack our Mexican dried peppers and spices. They are an important part of our team, and watching them work, learn, take pride in what they do, and support one another has been incredibly meaningful to me.

But perhaps the most beautiful part of Mexiability has been seeing how our community has embraced and supported them. Every time a customer chooses a Mexiability product, they are not only buying Mexican spices or dried peppers — they are supporting an opportunity, inclusion, and the belief that ability should never be defined by disability.

Seeing how happy they are when they come to work is something I truly treasure.

Mexiability is more than a brand. It is a reminder that everyone deserves an opportunity to show what they can do. ❤️
